Gibson 1905 Style L1
Early Gibson carved arched top and arched back Style L1 guitar with slotted headstock, and original case.
Serial Number 8488
This auction is for a 1905 Orville H. Gibson Model L1 Guitar with case. The oval white label has serial # 5488 written in pencil. It is over 100 years old and is still a pretty nice sounding guitar. The guitar and case look to be original except for bridge. It has a slotted peghead with no evidence of the "The Gibson" logo on the peghead. The pin bridge was replaced (original bridge had been replaced prior to this bridge), neck was repaired at the heel and the body was reglued (see pictures) by Fret Repair in Southwestern Ohio. The guitar shows the years of wear and tear. It would make a nice wall hanger and conversation piece. Not many people can say they own a 100 year old Gibson!
